The 2026-2027 season further expands our offerings to children and youth to include grades 2 through 10, in addition to our ongoing opportunity for high school students. Each season, we invite students at local schools (including home schools) to collaborate with the adult chorus on concert projects. For 2026-2027, those collaborations will be part of the November 21 concert (The Hall, focusing on traditional choral concert music and presented in Loudon County) and the May 15 concert (The Stage, featuring musical theater selections and presented in Roane County). Robyn Maker, a previous RCS Children's Choir director and local music educator, broadens her role with RCS this season by directing both our newly named "Songbirds" children's choir and the debut of our youth choir, "Harmonics". You can find more information about Mrs. Maker on our home page. We encourage singers to participate in both concerts if possible and will provide a free t-shirt for the season courtesy of our sponsor, Eddie's Auto Service! Thank you so much for your support!

Additional Youth Opportunities
High school age students are welcome to join the adult chorus with the approval of the director. A short audition/interview can be scheduled at the beginning of the rehearsal period for any concert of the season. We endeavor to be a multi-generational ensemble and encourage the participation of young people who will carry on the musical legacy of our community.
Thanks to our partnership with Roane State Community College, local high school juniors and seniors may also participate for college credit as dual enrollment students or as part of RSCC's Middle College program. High school students find RCS a challenging and rewarding addition to their high school choral programs or as a welcome opportunity in schools without regular choral programs. Music in Education in Schools Grants
Roane Choral Society is committed to keeping quality music education in our public schools and gives at least $1000 annually to deserving programs chosen through an application process. Winners from each of our three service areas are invited to join Roane Choral Society in a local concert.
RCS was pleased to provide a total of $1,200 in financial support across all three of our counties during the 2025-2026 season! Grant winners included Dyllis Springs Elementary (Olivia Coffman), Kingston Elementary School (Candace Mull), and Midway Elementary School (Dayna Walker) in Roane County, Eaton Elementary (Emily Land) and Loudon High (Alisa Inman) in Loudon County, and Anderson County High (Stephanie Coker) and Norwood Elementary (Angela Cox) in Anderson County. Congratulations to the winners! We look forward to continuing our support of local music education in our service communities!
