With rehearsals and performances in Roane, Loudon, and Anderson counties, the Roane Choral Society provides singing opportunities for adults, youth, and children.

Brenda Luggie
Director
Ms. Luggie takes the podium for the tenth year as our musical director. She is an award-winning Professor of Music at Roane State Community College who has toured her choirs domestically and abroad and founded and directs the RCS Children's Choir. Ms. Luggie is an accomplished singer and experienced performer with a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Ohio University. Her unique perspective as a former RCS singer and board members allows for a varied approach to the community chorus, particularly in exciting collaborations with Roane State students and other community ensembles.
Paul Davis
Associate Music Director
Paul Davis III is a Roane State Community College alum and serves as the Contemporary Music Director and staff singer at First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge. Paul is excited to begin his 9th year as a chorus member and his second year as Associate Music Director for Roane Choral Society. He holds a Bachelors of Music Education, with an emphasis in choral conducting and a minor in music composition, from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. When not singing, Paul is an avid reptile and amphibian enthusiast, wildlife photographer, and calligraphy artist.
Dustin Lin
Accompanist, Loudon County
An alum of the University of Tennessee Knoxville, Dustin is an accompanist primarily in the Knoxville area. He works as a staff accompanist for both the University of Tennessee and Roane State Community College, as well as a freelance accompanist. And when time permits, he also teaches piano to both children and adults.
Slade Trammell
Primary Accompanist, Roane County
Mr. Trammell begins his fifteenth year with RCS as an accomplished and talented pianist with a love of accompanying singers. He holds a Master's Degree in Piano Performance and has been heard in concerts across the U.S., in Europe, and in Canada. Mr. Trammell has studied under Grammy-winning Earl Wild, Rachmaninoff pupil Ruth Slenczynska, and UTK's Dr. David Brunell. Highlights with RCS include the honor of premiering multiple SATB/piano works as well as a commissioned piano solo in 2020.
Sarah Hamilton
Associate Music Director
​Sarah Hamilton is starting her second year with RCS and first year as Associate Director. She earned her Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she further developed her passion for choral artistry, music education, and collaborative music-making. Sarah is also a middle and high school choir director in Sevier County Schools. She is passionate about creating a welcoming and encouraging environment where singers of all experience levels can grow in both confidence and musicianship. Through her work in the classroom and with community ensembles, she strives to inspire a lifelong appreciation for choral music and the meaningful connections it creates.
Robyn Maker
RCS Harmonics (Youth) and Songbirds (Children) Director
Robyn Maker, a Roane State alum, is a local performer and teacher based in Knoxville. She holds a Bachelors of Music in Voice from UT Knoxville and a Masters of Music in Voice from the University of Utah. When not singing with RCS, she teaches elementary music and middle school theatre at St John Neumann Catholic School, serves as a staff singer with First United Methodist Church Oak Ridge and as an instructor and director for Roane County Children’s Theatre.
Candace Armstrong
Accompanist, Anderson County
​Candace is a freelance pianist and organist, retired from seventeen years of teaching and directing the choral ensembles at Lincoln Memorial University. She currently works as music director and organist at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Knoxville and is the pianist for a private voice studio (Knoxville Voice Lessons). A native of Mt. Washington, KY, her undergraduate degree from Morehead State University is in piano while her Master’s Degree is in Choral Music Education. Candace also studied conducting at Westminster Choir College with Charles Bruffy and James Jordan. Her experience at the piano includes national-level church music leadership (Episcopal and Lutheran) and countless music theatre productions in Louisville, KY and New Orleans, LA.
